'Private Cars'Over the period from 1990 to 2006, CO2 emissions from private cars have increased by 4%. This isn't a lot when you see that in the same period the volume of traffic has increased by 20%.
As a car owner, and have been for the last 4 years, I would be lost with out my car! The thought of using a bus, which is never on time and full of smelly teenagers and dirty old men is really not appealing!I drive a Kia Picanto LX 1.1. Not the best looking or fastest car in the world but it gets me from A to B, eventually! Its fairly economical and in a low tax and insurance band. When I can I car share and drive sensibly most of the time. To be more economically friendly, over the summer I took my motor bike test and have bought a Honda Shadow 125cc bike, just need me fella to put it together and get it on the road!

What's being done you ask? Well, an electric car has been developed.
Are they any good? Erm, depends who you are and what you want from a car:
Comparison of typical electric and petrol cars

ELECTRIC 25% slower

ELECTRIC - 73g/km
PETROL - 217g/km
Range
ELECTRIC - 100 miles
PETROL - 300 miles
Time to re-fuel
ELECTRIC - 5 hours
PETROL - 5 minutes

I believe, although the electric cars are not as good as the petrol, if there is no other choice of car, people will have no choice than to have one. Or they are cheaper to buy and run, I believe people would buy one
*According to Jeremy Clarkson, driving with the window open increases fuel consumpton by 5%!
